Descrizione

Descrizione del genere: le pupille sono orizzontali. La lingua è grande, ovale, con margini interi e può essere sollevata liberamente sul dorso. I denti palatini sono disposti in due piccoli gruppi ravvicinati dietro la giunzione delle coane . Il timpano non è chiaramente visibile. Le dita delle mani e dei piedi sono collegate da reti. Questi non intervengono tra i metatarsi del 4° e 5° dito. Le punte delle dita e dei piedi sono allargate in dischi adesivi e hanno falangi terminali ossee a forma di T o di Y. I precoracoidi sono deboli e sovrastano i coracoidi . L' omosterno è assente. Lo sterno è un piccolo piatto di cartilagine. I processi trasversali diLe vertebre sacrali sono moderatamente allargate.

Diffusione

Il genere è endemico del Madagascar . Le specie del genere precedentemente indipendente Platypelis vivono nel nord e nord-ovest dell'isola, le altre specie assegnate a Cophyla si trovano nel nord-est e nel sud del Madagascar.
